So long. Farewell. Goodbye. Sayonara. Auf wiedersehen. And in the parlance of our times; peace out. After two years of speculation, the University of Missouri left the Big 12 Conference last month and headed for the Southeastern Conference; better known as the SEC. If there were any doubt left, this clearly elevated our beloved Tigers above that school to the west of here.
The SEC has a rich athletics tradition, especially recently with winning the last five BCS National Championships. It’s not just football though. Basketball in the south has strong roots. With Kentucky, Florida, Tennessee, the return of Coach Mike Anderson to Columbia at the head of the Arkansas Razorbacks, we are entering an equally competitive conference in basketball. This move sets Mizzou up to be in a league at the forefront of the conversation of conference competitiveness; and stability, for years to come.
Make no mistake Tiger fans, this is a new culture we are entering into. Take some time and connect with our new athletics home.
